Steven

My illustrations are realistic and detailed and have spanned Book illustration, Advertising, Marketing, Editorial, Wine Labels, Beer labels, Medical and Mapping. I aspire to maintain and deliver quality by fully understanding the client’s needs. Although my preference is pure oil painting on canvas, usually I combine traditional media with digital - my hand-drawn illustrations are scanned and completed in Photoshop using a Wacom digitiser.

Adobe Illustrator - vector illustration and maps.
Photoshop - Illustration.
Painter - simulation of traditional media.
Maxon Cinema 4d (16) - 3D renderings.

Lynda

I must have got my love of drawing from my grandfather who was a cartoonist. One day when I was small he let me play with his gigantic box of crayons and I was immediately hooked!

After doodling my way through school I studied Fine Art at Wits Tech. While I was there I developed an interest in animation and when I left college I went to London and worked as an apprentice in various animation studios where I picked up my animation skills.

When I returned to South Africa I worked in publishing as a book designer and illustrator and also freelanced as an animator. In 2001 I started working at the Videolab as a 2D and 3D artist and in 2008 I moved to The Refinery. In the almost 20 years I've been working as an animator and illustrator I've really loved that every project I work on is different so I am always developing new styles and upgrading my technical skills.

I've been freelancing for almost two years in which time I've done illustration and animation for advertising, training, and education.
Some clients have been Bladeworks, The Refinery, Maskew Miller Longman and Macmillan.

Pete H

Based in Cape Town, Pete also works for many London clients where he spent 5 years improving his craft.

Pete's signature style is to digitally create illustrations which are indistinguishable from traditional paintings. Being able to produce work which looks hand crafted with all the conveniences of digital artwork makes him a highly sought after illustrator. However, he has many more strings to his bow.
