Steven

My illustrations are realistic and detailed and have spanned Book illustration, Advertising, Marketing, Editorial, Wine Labels, Beer labels, Medical and Mapping. I aspire to maintain and deliver quality by fully understanding the client’s needs. Although my preference is pure oil painting on canvas, usually I combine traditional media with digital - my hand-drawn illustrations are scanned and completed in Photoshop using a Wacom digitiser.

Adobe Illustrator - vector illustration and maps.
Photoshop - Illustration.
Painter - simulation of traditional media.
Maxon Cinema 4d (16) - 3D renderings.

Peter M

Born in Rustenburg, I grew up on misson stations in the bush. I hated school, started drawing teachers and church elders in my hymnbook and later polititians.
I matriculated at the German School in Pretoria, went to a kibbutz in Israel, then did a diploma in Fine Art at Wits Tech in Johannesburg . I studied Graphic design at the AAA School of Advertising and moved on to be an editorial cartoonist for 10 years at Beeld, Citizen and Daily Dispatch.

I took a 2 year break from cartooning to work for Stephen Klein Design studio as workshop manager, doing 3d off the wall commissions, before joining the Citizen.

I love designing and making things with my hands. My workshop and my powertools are my paradise, but I always need that balance between 2d and 3d, drawing people and especially faces.

I live with my wife and 2 daughters in Cape Town.

Trevor

Trevor is a freelance illustrator and designer living in Cape Town. His main focus lately is on vector-based illustration. Over the years he has honed different styles within this medium: from detailed, photorealistic illustration to simplified “line art” and flat, clean vectors (infographic style).

He’s just as comfortable designing an off-the-wall character as he is a logo. This versatility has landed him some interesting projects, including lead design on the Peter Jackson produced film District 9 when in South Africa.

His work has been published in various design journals and magazines. Over the years he’s won a few Loerie awards for advertising and design agency clients.
Other notable clients have included Smithsonian, National Geographic, Standard Bank, Coca Cola and recently, he illustrated a kids’ book for world champion surfer Shaun Tomson.

Tshepo

Drawing/illustrating has long since been a very big interest in my life ever since I have been able to hold a pencil and paper in my hands. Having to see the depth of the discipline through various Medias and Applications, I have come to develop a passion for it.
I was born in Mafkeng (NW Province) but grew up most of my life in Krugersdorp (GP), my high school days were mostly spend with me doodling away the teachers voices as they taught but somehow managed to pass. My style of illustration is mostly influenced by anime style of drawing, I have been a fan ever since I saw the intense stare of those big gleaming eyes the characters had.

I have also experimented with my drawing techniques through out my drawing years, copying different styles as I saw them and trying to develop a style of my own as went along. Through that, I have learned to see that I can be very flexible when it comes to illustrating as I can mimic as well as come up with an original creation depending on the kind of request I have before me.
