Im a fashion graduate from Cape Town.

Im particularly interested in line and detail. I enjoy doing fashion illustrations, specification sheets, fashion technical drawings and would love to illustrate my own childrens picture book. I draw inspiration from Pop Art, Comic Books, Fantasy Fiction and my little nieces and nephews picture books.

Gareth is a self-taught artist who has been drawing from a very young age. His favourite toy as a child was a set of koki-pens. He went to a high school that didn't offer art classes, but that didnt stop him from spending most of his class time sketching.

He was sent to the principles office regularly for drawing in class when he should have been doing schoolwork but the headmaster liked his art so much that he got off very lightly on almost every occasion!
Gareth studied Fine-art and Graphic design for two years at college. He eventually discontinued his courses as he felt the urge to concentrate solely on illustration.

He has been a freelance illustrator for 12 years, providing artwork primarily for publishers of educational and instructional books. Apart from that he has done extensive work providing artwork for advertising campaigns, caricatures, posters, comics and just about anything that requires elements of illustration and design.

Gareth works in a range of mediums. He uses the traditional mediums of pen, pencil and watercolour/guache paints but uses digital software to complete the majority of his projects. His favourite design software is Photoshop.

Gareth is a bit of a perfectionist so he dreads rush-jobs and can be found working at any time of day or night depending on the deadline needs of the client.

My story will sound like any other artist who is passionate about art. It was something I always wanted to do since I was a child. While the other boys played rugby I would bend over my paper with a pencil in my hand.

I am still bent over my art using my Wacom Intuos 5 tablet instead of pencils. I can not stop myself creating pictures!!! It is my drug...

I do most of my art in the digital format, using Photoshop as my main machine for illustrations. For my 3D art I employ Blender to craft some of my more tangible characters and concepts.

I love creating the unknown and unseen. Creating a creature, object or world from scratch must be one of the most rewarding activities out there.

Clayton matriculated at Pretoria Boys High, where he won the annual art prize 3 times. He studied at the University of Pretoria, doing (BA) FA Information Design.
He worked in various advertising agencies in the early 90's under creative directors such as Francois de Villiers and Hein Botha, (their biggest accounts being M-Net and the Post Office) Clayton worked in various retail advertising agencies with clients such as Top CD and Dial-A-Movie, as well as working in tourism companies - Info Africa and IT companies - Infinity Endless Rewards.

He worked in industrial design and engineering firms in the late 90's whereby he designed world class military vehicles for the Jordanian Armed Forces, Land Rover UK, MAN Germany and the Chinese Police, he was involved in the styling and aesthetics. Clayton won the 2004 SABS DISA award for a product called 'Pro Aim' golf training glasses, which was endorsed by Tiger Woods' coach Butch Harmon in America.

Clayton currently runs Sprint Design, a company specializing in illustration, graphic design and printing, web design and development, advertising and industrial design. He also lectures in illustration techniques from marker rendering, instructional imaging and photoshop to 2nd and 3rd year students at the University of Pretoria.

He was also coveted as one of the top 50 students to have left the University of Pretoria since the design departments inception, an exhibition was held for these chosen 50, 2 well know names in the exhibition were Carol Boyes and coveted art director Francois de Villiers.

If you ask me what my most memorable childhood memory is, I would have to answer, children books. Books like 'Cat in the Hat' by Dr Seus and 'My Bruin Beer Bennie'.

I have to confess that I was not one of those children that sat still while my mom read to me, instead I would entertain myself for hours as I studied the bright colours of the drawings. This was where I fell in love with pictures.

Illustration has always been my passion and my creative outlet.
I studied Graphic Design at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography, where I recieved my BA in Applied Design.

After completing my studies in 2008, I worked for a small design studio in Paarl, before opening my own studio in March 2011. I decided that my studio would not just specialise in graphic design and web development but also my true passion, illustration.

Karen was born in East London, moved to Pretoria and then to Pietersburg (now Polokwane). She moved back to Pretoria in 2008 where she attended Pro Arte Alphen Park and began studying Art.
In 2001, Karen moved to Port Elizabeth after school and studied graphic design at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (Originally PE Tech), completing a BTech in Graphic Design in 2005. She began lecturing in graphic design at Edu-City College and also began studing a BA HSS (psychology) in 2006.

In 2007 Karen moved back to Gauteng where she worked as a flash developer for a year in the IT industry, designing animations for slot machine tickers. In 2008 she started lecturing in graphic design again at the Midrand Graduate Institute. She left MGI at the end of 2010 and went to work on the cruise ships for six months doing temporary tattoos. She did a tattoo course in December 2010 and now does tattoos occasionally in her spare time.

Karen is currently working for Hartwood Digital Print Shop in Midrand as a graphic designer. Throughout her career she has continued to draw and paint, specialising in commissioned portraiture. She plans to return to MGI to lecture and further her studies.

She also works in InDesign/Freehand/Quark and Flash as well as gouache, acrylic, pencil, pen and ink, watercolour, oil, charcoal and pastel.

Karen enjoys illustrating in a diverse range of artwork styles, from realistic to styled, depending on the clients needs.
She graduated with a National Higher Diploma in Graphic Design (specialising in illustration). Her career started as a graphic designer, followed by book designer and computer graphics lecturer.

Karen's work has been commissioned both locally and abroad. Clients include: Hodder (UK), McGraw-Hill and Ibis Publishing (Australia), Oxford University Press, Maskew Miller Longman – Pearson Southern Africa, Heinemann Publishers, True Love and Intelligence Total Business Magazines and Jupiter Drawing Room. She has illustrated packaging artwork for Design Oval (Vi-Daylin and Mr Pritt), Moutia Rum and Educational card games for Cambridge University Press (Keys to Learning).

Karen's work is discussed and featured in a book entitled; Best Practice: The Pros on Adobe Photoshop written by Toni Toland published by Delmar Learning, New York (2006) and in SA Art Times (July 2010).

She currently works as a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and fine artist.
