Alex has been working as a freelance illustrator since since 2007 and has since worked for numerous clients, including Sasol, Visa, Volkswagen SA and some clients in the Netherlands. His work has been published in a large number of books, both children's- and educational titles.
Some of the qualities that makes working with Alex unique is his versatility and speed. He is versatile in terms of style and media (being able to work digitally and in any other traditional medium) and he can work very fast – meaning that no deadline is ever too tight.

Alex loves every aspect of being an illustrator and every project is exciting in itself. If he has to choose a favourite job though, it will be illustrating poems and stories where it is necessary to be support the tone and feeling of the writing.

I am a freelance illustrator based in Cape Town, a suitably inspiring setting for anyone in the creative industry. Since childhood, I have always had an appreciation for art; especially the illustrations found in picture books.

To this day a pencil is seldom out of my hand. However when the time came, I decided to formalize my training by studying Graphic Design at the Ruth Prowse School of Art in Woodstock. This gave me a solid understanding of the techniques employed to illustrate material in both traditional and digital media such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Corel Painter. In this way I produce both pixel and vector based artwork.

I use a variety of styles, mostly realistic but I am also capable of creating more decorative illustrations. While I am content to produce art in more traditional styles, I like to try my hand at anything new. This challenges me to develop my skills as an artist. I believe one can never practice or know too much as there is always room for growth. Over the past two years I have illustrated a variety of text books, children’s books and magazines. When not painting and drawing I am either outdoors or thinking of my next art project.

Kim has been in design and advertising for many years and started her career illustrating new ranges of stamps for the Post Office.

She has been a package design illustrator for Spar and Pick 'n Pay as well as providing editorial illustrations for a number of books and adverts.

Although she has concentrated on art direction for publications, over the past few years she has developed quirky cartoon characters for various clients as well as a range of stylised men for Anglogold Ashanti for their internal communications, and has concentrated on appealing sketches for children's books and magazines.

Marleen(Paddy) is an exhibiting Cape Town based fine artist, illustrator, graphic designer, musician and the sole owner of Blue note ART Studio cc. “I believe that all art forms are integrated in various ways and have always been challenged to express my passion for life in all I do”.
She works from concept to finals, mostly specialising in illustrations for the Publishing and Advertising industries. Computer graphics are done on Apple Mac.

Marleen started off many years ago, working for VZ and then, BBDO in Johannesburg, as a renderer and storyboard artist. From there she started freelancing to various Ad agencies such as Hunt Lascaris, Young and Rubicam, Chart Studios. She also had clients like the National Parks Board, Jurgens caravans and a variety of corporate clients.

Together with her husband, Jacques Meyer, who is a professional photographer, they travel and have created many brochures for Lodges in Southern Africa. Package design and T-shirt designs have also been one of her expertise. During the past 13 years, Marleen has specialised in illustrating, particularly for publishers such as Oxford University Press, Heinemann, MML, Maskew Miller Longman, Juta, Vivlia, Via Afrika , Fantasi Books. She has also published a picture book in Australia and is a member of SCBWI (Society for children’s books, writers and illustrators.)

Born and bred in Cape Town, I bravely conquered a BTech Degree in Graphic Design (CPUT), majoring in illustration, in 2003.
Post studies, a six-month stint at an advertising agency sent me wailing into the open arms of freelance illustration where I spent two years painting ferociously bright paintings, interspersed with drawing children's illustrations, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This did, however, leave me moderately impoverished, and so I was forced once more to don the cloak of 9 to 5. After a two year episode as a graphic designer/illustrator at a children's publisher, I moved to the DTP department of a comic publishing house. Here I was fortunate enough to learn from a host of talented illustrators and other creatives, and after four years decided once more to plunge into full-time freelancing.

While comfortable with traditional media of pencil, inks and acrylics, my work is predominantly digital, with Photoshop being my software of choice.

I enjoy working in a wide variety of styles and pride myself in producing the best possible work no matter the project.

My client list includes: Oxford University Press, National Geographic Kids, Pearson Education and Nasou Via Afrika.

I have also had the privilege of being part of the SCWBI exhibition of published South African illustrators.

Julian is a vastly experienced illustrator with super draughtsmanship and figure drawing ability.
His areas of interest include: SA fauna and flora; cartoons of the good, the bad, and the ugly; children in all activities; and portraits. He has also worked on brochures, packaging, promotions, book covers, annual reports and training manuals.

His previous clients include: Smith Kline Beecham, Tanur Jewellers, Cadbury Schweppes, Liptons, Plascon, Dulux, S.A. Breweries, Revlon SA, SAA, Dairybell.

Theo is a Freelance Illustrator and Artist living and working in Cape Town. He has been a freelancing since 2006 and is an experienced children's book illustrator and cartoonist. He has illustrated books for Penguin Books (NZ) and Protea books among others, as well.

He also does illustration for character development, advertising, caricatures and cartoon animation backgrounds and titleboards.

He works mostly in traditional media and his work has a humorous, lively and atmospheric quality to it. Theo works in pen and ink, watercolour, acrylic, oil paint, and occasionally Photoshop for digital work and Flash for character animation.

I obtained my Graphic Design Diploma at East London Technical College and now live and work in Cape Town.

After freelancing in illustration for about ten years in England, I have built up a wide range of different styles which range from figurative drawing to a more stylised graphic interpretation

of a client's brief - and have produced illustration for Advertising, Editorial, Publishing and Design.

Yvonne grew up on a farm near the Transkei, and later in George, South Africa.

She finished her BA Fine Art(Graphic Design) degree at Stellenbosch University in 1993. After a year of freelance illustration, she went to London for 7 years, where she worked for clients like Macmillan Education UK and BBC Educational Publishing.

Yvonne then returned to South Africa to settle in Jeffreys Bay and start a family, where she also does Surf Art. Her illustration ranges from people (mainly in African scenes), to hippie surf scenes, to botanicals, in mediums ranging from pen and ink washes, scraperboard, pencil crayon to acrylics.

Other illustration clients include Anglo American, Soul City and Soul Buddyz, Paraffin Safety of South Africa, Union-Swiss (Bio-oil), Good Taste magazine, Pearson, Heinemann and Oxford University Press.
